Description
Duplex stainless steel sheet is a type of stainless steel sheet that is made from a combination of austenitic and ferritic stainless steels. It contains high levels of chromium and nickel, as well as the addition of molybdenum and nitrogen. This combination of alloys gives duplex stainless steel sheet its unique properties of high strength, excellent corrosion resistance, and good weldability.
In terms of corrosion resistance, duplex stainless steel offers excellent resistance to a wide range of corrosive environments, including chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking. It also has good resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. This makes it suitable for use in marine environments and applications that involve exposure to chemicals and corrosive fluids.
Duplex stainless steel sheet is available in various grades, such as 2205 and 2507, which offer different levels of corrosion resistance and strength. It can be easily welded and fabricated, although care must be taken to avoid excessive heat input during welding to prevent the formation of harmful phases.
